Antipollution collaborates with ThPA S.A. for the underwater cleanup of Thessaloniki Port

In a remarkable display of unity and dedication to our planet’s well-being, on Friday 29/09/2023 took place the underwater cleanup initiative at Thessaloniki Port. This collaborative effort brings together prominent organizations, including ThPA S.A. – Port of Thessaloniki, Antipollution SA, HELMEPA – Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association, Hellenic Environmental Center, and MEPP, to tackle one of the most pressing issues of our time: marine pollution.

At the heart of this initiative lies a shared commitment to preserving our marine environment and nurturing a profound understanding of sustainable development principles. It is an acknowledgment that the health of our oceans is inextricably linked to the well-being of our planet and future generations.

Marine pollution poses a grave threat to our oceans’ delicate ecosystems, and it is a problem that demands immediate attention. The underwater cleanup at Thessaloniki Port is not merely a clean-up operation; it is a statement of environmental responsibility. By removing debris and waste from beneath the surface, we are taking a significant step towards improving the overall health of our oceans.

However, this initiative goes beyond the removal of pollutants. It is a powerful educational endeavor aimed at enlightening and inspiring the next generation of environmental champions. Through hands-on involvement, we seek to instill a profound sense of responsibility for our natural world and a commitment to sustainable practices. More than 250 students had the opportunity to experience an immersive educational experience and become informed about important issues related to environmental and marine protection.
