Antipollution Supports Underwater Cleanup at Thessaloniki Port

Antipollution has once again demonstrated its commitment to a cleaner marine environment by supporting the underwater cleanup of Thessaloniki Port. This initiative, part of a broader effort to preserve Greece’s coastal ecosystems, focused on removing debris and pollutants from the seabed of one of the country’s busiest ports.

The cleanup was organized in collaboration with local divers and environmental groups, with Antipollution providing essential logistical support, funding, and expertise. As a division of the V Group of Companies, Antipollution has become a leader in combating marine pollution through innovative solutions and a hands-on approach.

Vyron Vasileiadis, Chairman of V Group praised the efforts of everyone involved, stating, “The health of our seas is vital, not only for Greece but for the entire world. Thessaloniki Port is a key hub for maritime trade, and maintaining its cleanliness is crucial for both environmental sustainability and economic success. Antipollution is proud to support initiatives like this that align with our mission to reduce marine pollution.”

The underwater cleanup revealed a range of debris, including plastic waste, discarded fishing gear, and other pollutants that can harm marine life. The effort not only improves the environmental quality of the port but also raises awareness of the ongoing challenges posed by marine litter.

Thessaloniki Port, one of Greece’s major gateways for international shipping, is highly susceptible to pollution from industrial activity and maritime traffic. By supporting such cleanups, Antipollution aims to address the impacts of human activity on marine ecosystems, aligning with its long-term goal of reducing pollution in Greek waters.
