Voluntary Coastal and underwater clean-ups on Delos Island

V Group members, AntipollutionVEN Engineering participated in voluntary coastal and underwater clean-ups on Saturday 3 September in Delos, the holy Island of light. The actions were organised by members of OFET Group ― UNI-PHARMA & InterMed and were held under the auspices of the Municipality of Mykonos and with the support of the Mykonos Port Authority, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades and the Ephorate of Maritime Antiquities.

Volunteer groups made up of V Group and OFET employees experienced first-hand the implications of social contribution and environmental protection as they endeavoured to clean up the island’s beaches from waste, while experienced diving teams collected and removed waste from the Island’s seabed. The collected waste was then removed in special transport packages and taken to V Group’s state-of-the-art facilities.

The initiative of the two Groups is the result of broader cooperation based on common corporate values, goals and missions relating to the promotion of sustainable development, the adoption of the principles of the circular economy and the full utilization of waste (zero waste), underlining a commitment towards ensuring sustainability for future generations.

Recognising their responsibility towards the natural and social environment in which they operate, OFET & V Group have experience in organising voluntary actions with high levels of employee participation. The Groups’ actions in favour of sustainable development and social contribution act as a model for the wider professional and social environment, which they wish to positively influence and inspire with their philosophy and actions.

The action included a tour of the archaeological sites of the island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as educational games on alternative waste management and the circular economy.
